Alexander Sakrsgard joins The Vanguard
Alexander Skarsgard has signed up to play a Viking in 'The Vanguard'.
While details of the plot are being closely guarded, it has been revealed the 'True Blood' star will play one of two brothers who are attempting to return home to Sweden after being exiled to America, although his co-star has not yet been cast.
Alexander will also produce the movie - which has been compared to 'Gladiator' and 'Braveheart' - from a script written by playwright Chris Boal, the brother of Oscar-winning 'Hurt Locker' writer Mark Boal.
Along with his role on TV drama 'True Blood', Alexander will be kept busy in the near future with big screen roles in 'Straw Dogs' and 'Battleship'.
He also appears in Lars von Trier's 'Melancholia', which premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in May, alongside his father 'Mamma Mia' actor Stellan Skarsgard.
He recently said: "I don't think I came into acting to compete with my father. But, you know, he wasn't around as much as normal dads, and seeing his passion, maybe it was a way to get his attention. I mean, if anything, we're trying to take care of him. He's over the hill."
