America Ferrera joins cop drama End of Watch
America Ferrera has joined the cast of 'End of Watch'.
The 27-year-old actress will mark her return to the big-screen with the project, which has been one of the first she has signed up to since the end of TV series 'Ugly Betty', and will star alongside Jake Gyllenhaal and Anna Kendrick.
Despite voicing a character in 'How to Train Your Dragon' and a part in indie movie 'Our Family Wedding', America's career has seemed somewhat quiet recently, but she is now to play a female policewoman noted as a "main supporting character" in the script, Variety reports.
Little is known about the story of the film, but it is believed to centre on the friendship of two cops.
David Ayer wrote the screenplay and will direct the crime-thriller project, which is due for release in 2012.
Michael Pena and Natalie Martinez will also take a leading role.
America won a Golden Globe in 2007 for her portrayal of geeky fashion writer Betty Suarez in 'Ugly Betty', but is otherwise known for roles in 'The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants' and 'Real Women Have Curves'.
