Poisoner role for Anna Friel

April 11th, 2012

Anna Friel is set to star in dark World War I comedy 'The Poisoners'.

The British actress will appear alongside Emily Watson and Lena Headey in the Paul Billing-written movie about women left behind in the English countryside when the men go off to fight in Europe.

While alone, the group become intertwined with German prisoners of war who are being held captive nearby.

Jeanna Polley is set to produce the movie, which will also feature a host of German actors including Ken Duken, Hanno Koffler and Alexander Scheer.

The movie will begin shooting in late summer in Ireland and Cologne, Germany.

Anna has appeared in a number of pictures in recent years, including the poorly-received 'London Boulevard' and 'Limitless'.

She is currently filming the role of Jean Raymond in 'The King of Soho', about the life of London porn baron turned millionaire property developer Paul Raymond.

It is expected for release in 2013.
