Ben Affleck to star in and direct "Live By Night"
Ben Affleck is to direct 'Live By Night'.
The actor-and-filmmaker - whose political thriller 'Argo' picked up two Oscars, including Best Picture, earlier this year - will write, helm and star in the big screen adaptation of Dennis Lahane's novel, Deadline reports.
Warner Bros. first acquired the rights to 'Live By Night' in April 2012 with Leonardo DiCaprio set to produce through his Appian Way production company, however, Appian will now produce with Affleck's Pearl Street, the company Affleck runs with Matt Damon.
The film tells the story of police officer's son Joe Coughlin as he falls into a life of crime and ''journeys from Tampa to Cuba, encounters various dames, lowlifes and more in tale of revenge and redemption.''
This will be the second Lahane novel adaptation for Affleck after making his directing debut with 2007's 'Gone Baby Gone', based on the author's novel of the same name.
Pre-production on the crime thriller begins in Boston today (08.05.13), while filming is scheduled to begin in August/September this year.
Affleck is also tipped to by directing the Stephen King adaptation 'The Stand' as well as the remake of 2007 film 'Tell No One'.
