Now that its debut is just over a week away, Marvel and Netflix are releasing more and more images and clips to get viewers pumped for the first season of Luke Cage. Over the last week, the official twitter account for the series has not only begun a gif countdown to the show, but has also shared new character posters for the supporting cast.

First up were the ladies in Luke Cage’s (Mike Colter) life. Simone Missick as Misty Knight and Rosario Dawson as Claire Temple both received posters highlighting their quest for justice. Both characters have been rumored to be love interests for Luke in the debut season of the series after he left his relationship with Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter) behind during the first season of her series. Both women are also expected to be connective tissue for the Marvel shows on Netflix. While Dawson’s Claire will appear in all of the planned series so far, Missick is expected to appear in the upcoming Iron Fist as well.

Whether either of them end up in a relationship with Luke or not, they are both characters squarely on his side in the series. Misty Knight is a detective in the show who will be trying her best to take on corruption in Harlem the legal way. Claire will likely be patching people up as we’ve seen her do in both Daredevil and Jessica Jones, though whether she’ll officially be back to working as a nurse or not remains to be seen.

Yesterday, the official twitter account released an additional three character posters for the series, but this time around, it was the villains who got the spotlight, though perhaps, antagonist would be a more accurate term. Included in the batch is Theo Rossi as Shades, Alfre Woodard as Mariah Dillard, and Mahershala Ali as Cornell Stokes.

While Cornell “Cottonmouth” Stokes is the criminal in charge of Harlem, Shades is one of the men that work for him. Those two will provide Luke with plenty of conflict. Mariah though is one of Cornell’s relatives who just happens to be going into politics. Whether she’s a villain or not might not be as clear. She could genuinely want to do good for Harlem and Cornell might just be a skeleton in her closet. She could also be in league with him. We’ll have to wait and find out.

The first season of Luke Cage will be available to stream in its entirety on Netflix on September 30. If you haven’t watched any of Marvel’s Netflix shows yet, you still have time to catch up. The first two seasons of Daredevil and the first season of Jessica Jones are available now. Characters from all four shows will unite in a Defenders team up series next year.

If you want more Marvel right now, season four of Agents of SHIELD is airing on ABC, Tuesdays at 10PM.
