Agents of SHIELD returned with a bang (or a blackout) this week while Iron Fist and Doctor Strange released lots of new information. That’s not all that went down in the Marvel Cinematic Universe over the last seven days though. We’ve got your MCU latest from Luke Cage, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and more all assembled below.

Doctor Strange

Lucky fans got to preview 15 minutes of the movie this week and we know now that the character will have a big role in the MCU going forward. We also know that though Rachel McAdams’ character is inspired by Night Nurse in the comics, she won’t actually become the Night Nurse in the movie. Maybe that role is reserved for Rosario Dawson in the Netflix shows.

We also know if you’re going to see the film in theaters, there are lots of exclusives you can get. Regal has collectible tickets while AMC has blacklight posters.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2

Scott Derrickson had some fun speculating what would happen if Doctor Strange and the Guardians met up, but that’s not all of the Guardians-related news we’ve got this week. James Gunn debunked some of the more recent rumors about the film and also addressed the roles of the female characters.

Luke Cage

We’ve got the real story behind the swear jar in Pop’s Barber Shop, but that’s not all. Marvel’s official site interviewed Simone Missick this week and Mahershala Ali stopped by the Women in Marvel podcast. One fan imagined what the show would be like as a 90s sitcom, and it’s pretty amazing:

Iron Fist

Production officially wrapped last week, and fans got their first look at Iron Fist at New York Comic Con last weekend (check out the panel), and now the information is starting to roll out. The cast spoke with Blastr about the show, and with Marvel during their convention livestream. Actor Lewis Tan, who actually auditioned for the lead role of Danny before being cast as the villain, has been talking about the importance of diversity in entertainment, and Finn Jones has been urging fans to watch the show before passing judgment on casting decisions. Netflix also unveiled new artwork for the show:

The Punisher

Three of the cast members for the upcoming Netflix series were announced this week. Jon Bernthal was also spotted filming stunts on a rooftop and he still had time to headline his own panel at NYCC.

Agents of SHIELD

After a week off, the show returned this (check out our review), but not before making a stop at NYCC as well. Chloe Bennet, Clark Gregg, and Gabriel Luna were on hand to represent the show. The went undercover on the convention floor to chat with fans, stopped by the Marvel livestream, chatted with Blastr, and did some press roundtables. There’s likely still more information from their interviews at the convention to come, so be on the lookout for those.

Luna and Jeph Loeb talked Ghost Rider with the press, and a behind the scenes featurette on Ghost Rider’s Hell Charger was released, while Loeb also hinted at the possibility of crossover between SHIELD and the Marvel Netflix shows. Entertainment Weekly also got a post-mortem on this week’s episode from the showrunners while Ann Foley chatted with a podcast about her costume design for the show.

If you’ve got a special interest in the character’s costumes on the sho, Foley also chatted with Where to Watch, and she’s started sharing information about what goes into the looks for Jemma Simmons (Elizabeth Henstridge) on her instagram.

SHIELD fans will be interested to learn that a Lego set pitch has reached the required amount of signatures to be considered for manufacturing and sales.

Last, but certainly not least, we got our first look at next week’s episode featuring Fitz (Iain de Caestecker), Simmons, and a rogue Daisy (Bennet).

And even more Marvel…

Sigourney Weaver will play the villain in The Defenders series.

Daredevil will make its way to DVD and blu-ray next month.

Evangeline Lilly will be in an upcoming Avengers movie.

Kate Beckinsale got fans thinking about the possibility of Blade in the MCU, but Kevin Feige says there are no immediate plans.

Scarlett Johansson also talked about the possibility of a Black Widow movie.

We know that Captain Marvel will be an origin story.

Black Panther added a few new cast members.

Matt Smith wants to play a Marvel character.

Check out some previously unreleased concept art for Zemo in Captain America: Civil War.

And that’s it for this week, Marvel fans. We’ll have everything ready for you in another seven days!
