1st New Look At 'The Last Jedi' Heroes Shown in 'Force Friday II' Preview
On Sept. 1, a slew of new toys and merchandise for The Last Jedi will go on sale as part of "Force Friday II" By that time, there will be a lot more sneak peeks of how Rey, Finn, Poe and others look in the new episode, yet a photo of a sample toy box with the Force Friday II announcement now serves as the very first one.
Back when Force Friday I was held before The Force Awakens, Finn was the one holding a lightsaber in the merchandise. But since Rey's link to the Force isn't a big spoiler for The Last Jedi, even if the reasons for it still are, she can be placed front and center with the old Skywalker lightsaber for the sequel's apparel.
With no teasers or footage out yet, there's no telling what kind of Last Jedi products will be made available, what new characters will be featured, or what other new looks they will have of old ones. Tellingly enough, leading "Last Jedi" candidate Luke wasn't featured on this initial sneak peek box, yet neither was leading Force Awakens merchandising icon Kylo Ren.
There's still two months to go before the first real Last Jedi scoop and sneak peeks should be ready, at the Star Wars Celebration convention in Orlando. In fact, writer/director Rian Johnson and executive producer Kathleen Kennedy became the first confirmed guests for The Last Jedi panel on Friday, April 14, which should ultimately include the rest of the cast and the unveiling of the first trailer.
Any new vehicles, creatures and characters shown there should be big sellers for Force Friday II on Sept. 1, although The Last Jedi itself is supposed to be the biggest cash cow of all starting on Dec. 15.
