James Cameron was glad when the 'Terminator' sequels didn't do as well as his instalments.

The director - who was behind both 1984's 'The Terminator' and 1991's 'Terminator 2: Judgement Day' - admits he was pleased when 'Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines' and 'Terminator Salvation' did satisfactorily, but didn't want them to outdo his own achievements.

He said: "You definitely want to see them not do as well, with 'Terminator' 3 and 4, because Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sam Worthington were in them, I wanted them to do well, but just not that well!"

The Canadian filmmaker also admitted he is getting annoyed by people "p***ing in" his "soup", with a number of films trying to go 3-D to "capitalise" on the success of his record breaking movie 'Avatar' - the highest grossing picture of all time.

He told Shortlist magazine: "People at the studios have to stop doing stupid stuff like making those bad 3-D conversions just to capitalise on the craze.

"There is a legitimate danger of p***ing in the soup and souring the market. I'm not against conversion of classics, in fact we're doing 'Titanic' ourselves, but you've got to take the time, spend the money and assure the quality."
