Bedknobs and Broomsticks: Enchanted Musical Edition DVD Review

Though it didn’t necessarily receive as much recognition as Mary Poppins, Bedknobs and Broomsticks was an equally brilliant combination of magical story, wonderful animation, and amazing music from the same studio. September 8th, Bedknobs and Broomsticks: Enchanted Musical Edition comes to DVD from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment.

A winner of the 1971 Academy Award for Best Effects and Special Visual Effects, Bedknobs and Broomsticks tells the story of an apprentice witch (Angela Lansbury), 3 kids and a cynical conman (David Tomlinson) in search of the missing component to a magic spell useful to the defense of Britain during World War II.

Full of melodic music, magical adventure, and wonderful acting talent, Bedknobs and Broomsticks is a story that appealed to kids nearly 40 years ago, and is sure to be an enjoyable family experience for adults and young children today. Angela Lansbury is best remembered by many for her later years role in “Murder She Wrote”, however she had some great movie roles in her earlier acting days.

While adding modern technology through digital remastering to a brilliant adventure film, the Bedknobs and Broomsticks: Enchanted Musical Edition DVD is also loaded with bonus material that includes “The Wizards of Special Effects,” a behind-the-scenes look at the award winning effects used in the film led by Jennifer Stone from Wizards of Waverly Place, and more! This DVD is a great entertainment experience that offers a family-friendly adventure.
