Bernie Mac (October 5, 1957 - August 9, 2008) is an actor & comedian who made an impact on everyone who watched him. During his memorable career he went from a stand-up comedian on HBO to a respected comedy films actor whose voice and face one could never forget.

After briefly hosting the HBO show Midnight Mac, Bernie appeared in several films in smaller roles. His most notable movie part was that of Frank Catton in the remake Ocean's Eleven and the titular character of Mr. 3000.

He was the star of The Bernie Mac Show, which ran from 2001 through 2006, earning him two Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Comedy Series.

Other films known for starring Bernie Mac include the titles of Booty Call, The Players Club, Guess Who, Friday, Pride & Transformers, to name a few.

In August of 2008, Mac was admitted to the Northwestern Memorial Hospital in his hometown of Chicago, Illinois. He passed away in the early morning hours of August 9 from sarcoidosis complicated by pneumonia.
