Jennifer Aniston is one of the most respected and appreciated actresses in Hollywood today. The list of Jennifer Aniston movies covers a broad range of films from various genres. After getting her breakthrough and establishing herself as Rachel Green (1994-2004) on the popular TV show “Friends”, Aniston embarked on a successful and long-running film career.
Although her personal life and experiences have filled tabloids as much as her film performances, there are many top Jennifer Aniston movies that show her talents and appeal on screen are superior. She is considered one of the more popular female actors in movies at the present time. This list of Jennifer Aniston movies is focused on the Top 5 movies with Jennifer Aniston of all time, beginning in the mid-1990s when she first appeared prominently on screen.
For the purposes of this top 5 list of Jennifer Aniston movies, the movie must have been entertaining, well-received commercially and/or critically, perhaps epic in nature with a lasting impact, iconic in its time, and Aniston must have been a significant player in the film.
Best Jennifer Aniston Movies of All Time
5. Rumor Hast It (2005) – Playing opposite Kevin Costner, Aniston was amazing in this romantic comedy in which Aniston’s character learns her grandmother was the inspiration for the movie The Graduate.
4. Bruce Almighty (2003) - This Jennifer Aniston movie would likely be higher on the list if quality of the film was the only criteria. However, it gets knocked down a bit simply because Aniston’s role, while prominent, was a little more second fiddle to star Jim Carrey’s role.
3. Picture Perfect (1997) – One of the earliest Jennifer Aniston movies, this romantic comedy also stars Jay Mohr in Kevin Bacon. Aniston is truly at her best as an ambitious career woman who finds love with one man (Mohr) in the midst of a back-handed plot to catch the eye of another man (Bacon).
2. Marley & Me (2008) - One of the best animal movies and best movies based on books of all time, this touching and sad true story is about a young couple who takes in a mischievous dog and then struggles with the reality of managing him when they start a family. Aniston shows off her soft and endearing side.
1. The Break-Up (2006) – Also one of the best Vince Vaughn movies, this memorable romantic comedy doesn’t follow the traditional “happy ending” plot flow. It does offer lots of funny moments as the joy of young love turns into a bitter relationship between two roommates. Who can forget Aniston’s famous naked stroll across the apartment to draw the eye of Vaughn’s character.
*Writer’s Note: Office Space (1999) is another top Jennifer Aniston movie that was not included simply because her role was smaller and more supporting in the story. Other Jennifer Aniston films strongly considered were The Object of My Affection (1998), The Good Girl (2002), and He’s Just Not That Into You (2009)
No doubt there are great Jennifer Aniston movies not included in this list and likely more good ones to come. In fact, there are several that could have been comfortably included without reservation. However, the list in place gives a good scope of the legacy of Jennifer Aniston films that now spans about 15 years.
