Fans of small dogs and those that loathe high fashion are in for a treat on March 3rd when Beverly Hills Chihuahua releases on Blu-ray, from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment. When Chloe (voiced by Drew Barrymore), a diamond-clad chihuahua from Beverly Hills gets lost while on vacation in Mexico, the people, and dogs, in her life jump into action.

Chloe’s aristocratic owner, Aunt Viv (Jamie Lee Curtis), leaves her beloved high fashion pet with her niece, Rachel Ashe Lynn (Piper Perabo) for a few days. Aunt Viv has know idea about the adventures Chloe is headed for while she is away.

When Chloe gets lost, Rachel panics and begins to put up wanted signs all around. Meanwhile, Papi (voiced by George Lopez), an amusing Chihuahua who is in love with Chloe, heads south of the border to rescue his lost love. Chloe gets more immediate help from former police dog, Delgado (voiced by Andy Garcia), a new friend and protector who rescues her from the midst of an underground dog fighting ring.

As Delgado and Chloe look to outrun the angry owner of the dog fighting business, Papi and Rachel are fast in pursuit of their lost friend. Aunt Viv is none the wiser and Rachel hopes to keep it that way until she can track down Viv’s prized possession.

Beverly Hills Chihuahua is a clever tale that simultaneously serves as a dog-friendly story and a means of poking fun at high society that dresses up small dogs and treats them as trophies. The movie cleverly presents the history of Chihuahua’s and debunks some common misperceptions about the small creatures, all the while telling an adventurous and fast-paced story. A nice heartwarming movie for animal and dog lovers. The animals certainly steal the show in this film.
