Jim Broadbent is in talks to star in 'Le Weekend'.

The 'Harry Potter' actor is in line for the lead role in Hanif Kureishi's bittersweet comedy about a professor who takes a romantic trip to Paris to revitalise his failing marriage.

The 63-year-old actor looks set to feature opposite Lindsay Duncan, who is in negotiations to play his school teacher wife.

Hanif Kureishi has written the script and Roger Mitchell will direct. Film 4 and Kevin Loader are set to produce when filming begins in November.

Jeff Goldblum is also in talks to feature as an opinionated academic based on controversial historian David Starkey.

Bill Nighy was originally interested in starring in an earlier version of Hanif's tender yet humorous project several years ago.

Jim most recently featured in 'The Iron Lady' opposite Oscar-winner Meryl Streep as Margaret Thatcher's late husband Denis Thatcher.

The actor's next project sees him star alongside Tom Hanks, Halle Berry, Jim Sturgess, Hugh Grant, Susan Sarandon and Ben Whishaw in forthcoming mystery movie 'Cloud Atlas'.

Hugo Weaving also stars in the film and recently described the motion picture as ''the idea of being reborn and souls being reborn through time''.
