Billy Connolly (William Connolly, Jr., CBE) is a Scottish actor as well as an accomplished comedian and musician. After pursuing a career as a folk singer and as a soloist, he made the transition to full-fledged comedian in the 1970's. Today Connolly continues to be one of the UK's top comedians.

He has appeared in films like Indecent Proposal (1993), Muppet Treasure Island (1996), Mrs. Brown (1997), The Boondock Saints (1999), The Man Who Sued God (2001), The Last Samurai (2003), Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004) & Open Season (2006). In 2009 he reprised his role as Noah "Il Duce" MacManus in The Boondock Saints II: All Saints Day. More recent onscreen gigs of Connolly's include the voice role of King Fergus in the Pixar animated fantasy adventure Brave (2012) and his portrayal of King Theodore in the 2010 remake of Gulliver′s Travels.

Come December 2013, Billy can be seen acting in the epic fantasy adventure The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug, where he plays a great dwarf warrior by the name of Dain Ironfoot. The talented Scot is also on-board to play the same character in the third and final Hobbit film, titled There and Back Again (2014).
