Darren Aronofsky to develop Noah film?

June 8th, 2011

Darren Aronofsky is set to direct a re-telling of the Biblical Noah's Ark story.

Entitled 'Noah', the project was written by the 'Black Swan' filmmaker and is currently undergoing a review by John Logan, and he is said to be so keen on it he wants to make it his next project after he dropped out of 'Wolverine'.

According to Deadline.com, New Regency wants a co-financing role in the film - for which Aronofsky wants a budget of $130 million - and Paramount, Fox and Summit are said to be interested.

The movie would enable him to "create a world" and is described as a "fantasy epic".

The original tale tells of a God who floods the world, but tasks Noah with collecting two of every animal and building a boat in which to house them to save the future of the planet.

It was recently reported the filmmaker was set to work on 'Human Nature', about a man who is cryogenically frozen and wakes up in the future to find humans are now pets of alien species, but it is not known if the project will be put on the backburner or has been dropped completely from his diary.
