Darren Aronofsky heads to Superman?
Darren Aronofsky has replaced Ben Affleck as the favourite to direct the upcoming 'Superman' reimagining.
While a long list of directors are in talks with producer Christopher Nolan - including Duncan Jones ('Moon'), Jonathan Liebesman ('Battle: Los Angeles') and Matt Reeves ('Cloverfield') - Aronofsky is said to be in the lead after Ben dropped out.
A source said 'The Town' director Ben met about 'Superman' last week but is no longer pursuing it while adding that Aronofsky is still in "active talks", according to Heat Vision Blog.
Meanwhile Natalie Portman is being lined up for the role of Superman/Clark Kent's love interest Lois Lane, but only if her 'Black Swan' director Aronofsky helms the movie.
A source - who worked with both on the dramatic ballet thriller - told MovieHole Aronofsky "has been talking about this for a while" but doesn't think the discussions have "progressed beyond the suggestion of having Natalie be Lois. They wanted her first time round, this time they can get her - with Darren. But who knows where that's at now."
Christopher Nolan along with wife and producing partner Emma Thomas will produce the movie based on a script written by Jonathan Nolan and David Goyer.
'Mad Men' star Jon Hamm is the favourite to star as the superhero.
