Ryan Gosling for Farragut North?
Ryan Gosling is in negotiations for George Clooney's new directorial project 'Farragut North'.
The 29-year-old actor is in talks to play the lead role of a young communications director who ends up working for a US presidential candidate, Deadline.com reports.
However, his naivety leads him to end up at the wrong end of dirty tricks campaigns and backstabbing.
The movie is based on the play by Beau Willimon, and Leonardo DiCaprio was once considered for the lead role two years ago.
Recently, Clooney confessed the project was a comic and cut-throat film many would enjoy.
He said: "It's about taking a candidate through a Democratic primary, but it's more about the dirty tricks and things you do during an election. It's fun and mean."
Gosling has been named as an early Oscar-nominee for his role in new movie 'Blue Valentine' alongside 'Brokeback Mountain' star Michelle Williams.
He will next be seen in drama movie 'All Good Things' alongside Kirsten Dunst and Kristen Wiig.
Production on 'Farragut North' is due to begin in early 2011.
