Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment brings to life a small but super-powered pooch, Bolt, on Blu-ray in a special Blu-ray + DVD + Digital movie release on Sunday, March 22nd (2 days ahead of the standard DVD release). This compelling story is about a super dog (voiced by John Travolta) who is accidentally shipped to New York City and separated from Penny (voiced by Miley Cyrus), his young caretaker.
Bolt springs into action to try to find his way home. By his side are the hilarious Rhino (voiced by Mark Walton) and Bolt’s #1 fan, street-smart cat Mittens (voiced by Susie Essman). Bolt embarks on an amazing journey of discovery and soon finds out, without a choice, that he does not need his super powers to be a real hero.
Bolt was produced by Pixar co-founder and CGI pioneer John Lasseter. You can tell as you watch the movie in high definition that the best talent in the market worked on this animation. The Blu-ray audio and visual is top knotch, which makes the movie jump off the screen as Bolt makes the story jump on it. There are many other clever moments and witty animal asides that make this movie loaded with fun. The only word of caution is that there are some perilous moments in Bolt that mighten frighten young kids – as evidenced by the PG-rating.
Also fun are some nice special features that add to the Bolt Blu-ray success:
