Fans of two hit reality television shows can get their money’s worth (or at least time) tonight as ABC is set to reveal the 2010 Dancing with the Stars lineup during the airing of “The Bachelor” finale. The final episode of Jake Pavelka’s run begins at 8PM ET.
Pavelka will be choosing between vixen Vienna and timid Tensley when he hands out his final rose this evening. Rumors have circulated that Vienna would be the final choice since the start of the season.
Following the The Bachelor finale at 10:15PM, ABC will air ‘After the Rose’, with interviews of Pavelka, the final bachelorettes, and others involved in the show this season.
ABC went away from its typical presentation of the DWTS cast on Good Morning America, opting to use the primetime stage of “The Bachelor” final episode to deliver the 2010 DWTS cast.
As is often the case, leaks of cast members have been coming out already today. Thus far, Kate Gosselin, Pamela Anderson, and NFL star Chad Ochocinco (Johnson) have been confirmed. Paula Abdul was rumored as a possible contestant but it was reported this morning that she turned down the opportunity.
Watch all the action on “The Bachelor” finale and the presentation of the 2010 Dancing with the Stars lineup beginning on ABC tonight at 8PM ET.

The 2010 Winter Olympics are in Vancouver this year and despite the relative proximity to the States, fanfare for the XXI Winter Olympiad has felt somewhat modest. NBC begins its non-stop coverage of the games with the Opening Ceremony at 7:30PM ET/6:30PM CST tonight, Friday, February 12th.
The Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympics games run February 12th through February 28th with a theme of “with glowing hearts/des plus brilliants explorts”. The Opening Ceremony festivities are sure to offer fantastic visuals and an exciting lighting of the torch.
According to early reports, there will be over 80 countries participating in this year’s Winter Olympic games, including several that will be present for the first time ever. New countries include: Cayman Islands, Colombia, Ghana, Montenegro, Pakistan, Peru and Serbia.
Arguably the face of the US team for this year’s games, downhill skier Lindsey Vonn, was injured in a practice run earlier in the week and it remains to be seen where the world’s best skier can deliver in the games. Vonn is among the more marketable athletes with current sponsors including the likes of Under Armour.

Ellen DeGeneres makes American Idol debut tonight

If you have been waiting for the Ellen DeGeneres American Idol debut, AI probably begins for real tonight, Tuesday, February 9th, as the well known comedian and talk show host makes her debut on the show as Hollywood week begins.
Promo for the Hollywood shows depict DeGeneres’ commentary on her initial experiences and reactions. Of course, much of what she says is for comic effect, but her comments have indicated that Simon is even meaner than she expected. DeGeneres has also shared that she herself has been somewhat more critical of singers at times, than she expected.
DeGeneres was named to the fourth judge’s seat vacated by the abrupt departure of long-running original American Idol Judge Paula Adbul. Many have questioned the talk show hosts qualifications as a musical talent evaluator, but the producers of the show were quick to point out that she was going to represent the “voice of the people” and offer a more layperson’s approach to the judging table.
Truthfully, DeGeneres’ involvement in American Idol Season 9 is most certainly about keeping the show’s content fresh and ratings high. AI has been the number one show in its time slot for each of its first eight seasons. However, like most other successful reality TV shows, AI must come up with new concepts and intriguing plots to regain its loyal following.
Ellen has been somewhat quick to assert her voice among an established panel of judges. With Simon Cowell already announcing this is his last season, Ellen has shared her thoughts on AI judging post-Simon. She says she would be comfortable with a three judge panel if the chemistry is right, but she also has some ideas for a new fourth judge. She has also hinted at tension with Cowell during Hollywood week filming.
DeGeneres does have previous reality TV show judging experience having served as a guest judge on a couple episodes of the huge hit dance show, So You Think You Can Dance. Similarly lacking in dance background, DeGeneres did have a great knack for adding to the show with her wit and humor, without detracting from the seriousness of the dance competition. Producers hope she is able to bring the same feel to American Idol, adding her humor without taking away from the singing competition.
American Idol with Ellen DeGeneres, hosted by Ryan Seacrest begins Hollywood Week at 8PM ET/7PM CST on Fox tonight.
