Alan Taylor to direct Thor 2
Kenneth Branagh directs one of 2011's most successful films in this epic fantasy action adventure based on the Marvel Comics superhero of the title name. At the center of the story is The Mighty Thor (Chris Hemsworth), a powerful but arrogant warrior whose reckless actions reignite an ancient war. As a result, Thor's father Odin (Anthony Hopkins) banishes him to Earth, where he's forced to live among humans. When the most dangerous villain of his world sends its darkest forces to invade Thor's new home, he learns what it takes to be a true hero. Rounding out the superb cast of Thor are actors Tom Hiddleston, Natalie Portman, Jaimie Alexander, Kat Dennings, Idris Elba, Rene Russo & Stellan Skarsgard.
Alan Taylor will direct 'Thor 2'.
The helmer is best known for his work on 'Game of Thrones', in addition to TV programmes including 'The Sopranos', 'Lost' and 'The West Wing', and has been chosen as Patty Jenkins replacement after she dropped out of the Marvel sequel.
Alan beat fellow 'Thrones' director Daniel Minahan for the picture, which will be released in November 2013.
Patty's removal from the film over "creative differences" earlier this month was said to have irritated Oscar-winning beauty Natalie Portman - who plays Jane Foster in the first film - as she was keen to see a woman take over the directorial job.
As such, the 'Black Swan' actress was kept involved with negotiations for the job, even though she is contractually obliged to film the follow-up to the movie, which stars Chris Hemsworth as the titular Norse God.
Tom Hiddleston will also be returning as the villainous Loki in the movie.
