Anne Hathaway has been learning martial arts for her role as Catwoman in 'The Dark Knight Rises'.

The 28-year-old actress is playing the super-villain and her alter-ego Selina Kyle in the upcoming Batman movie and she has really enjoyed learning new skills she has never needed before on a movie set.

The 'One Day' star said: "With action films you need to develop specific skills. They've given me a martial arts exercise, which I have to do all the time. It teaches me grace, proper stance and fluid movement. This stuff is so beautiful because it looks so gentle. But then, when you actually wind up doing the fight choreography, all of a sudden you are like, 'Oh my gosh, I'm hitting somebody's throat right now.' So it's been a lot of fun and a new challenge."

Anne has nothing but praise for her stunt doubles on the movie - which also stars Christian Bale as the Caped Crusader and Gary Oldman as Commissioner James Gordon - who are all working hard to create the incredible action sequences.

In an interview with The Sun newspaper, she revealed: "I'm having such a nice time with it because my stunt team is off-the-hook amazing.

"My stunt double is the coolest, toughest, sweetest woman that I have ever met. And I have a bike stunt double and a fighting double. And she is the coolest.

"We've been working out together and it's really inspiring to see a girl work out tougher than the boys."

Anee has also confessed her skin-tight costume - which has been the focus of some derision by Batman fans for not being sexy enough - is causing her some discomfort on set.

She said: "The catsuit is not something where comfort is really a priority. Things that are glamorous very rarely are."
