Paramount teams with New Regency for Noah
Darren Aronofsky's 'Noah' has been picked up by Paramount.
The studio will team up with New Regency to create the epic Biblical picture - which is thought to have a $130 million budget - which is due to go into production early next year.
Commenting on the developments, 'Black Swan' director Darren said: "Since I was a kid, I have been moved and inspired by the story of Noah and his family's journey.
"The imaginations of countless generations have sparks to this epic story of faith. It's my hope that I can present a window into Noah's passion and perseverance for the silver screen."
John Logan will rewrite the script for the project, with Darren and Scott Franklin producing.
Christian Bale has been touted for the leading role in the film, but he has not yet been officially signed on.
The Noah story from the Christian Bible's Old Testament tells the story of a God who is unhappy with the world and decides to flood it, tasking Noah and his family with building a huge ark with which to carry a pair of every animal to safety.
