Christina Hendricks in running for Anna Nicole Smith role?
Christina Hendricks and Jenny McCarthy are battling it out to land the role of Anna Nicole Smith in a Hollywood biopic.
The 'Mad Men' actress and 'Scary Movie' star are favourites to portray the late Playboy star and her rise to fame and fall into alcoholism and addiction, which eventually took her life in 2007 at the age of 39.
A source revealed to the Sunday Express newspaper: ''They are neck and neck. The producers love them both and it could come down to a final audition to determine who will get one of the most sought-after parts in Hollywood right now.''
The insider also revealed producers were wowed by Christina's strikingly resemblance to Anna Nicole when auditioning in a blonde wig.
James Cromwell, 72, who appeared in 'The Artist', is rumoured to be close to signing up to play Anna Nicole's ''sugar daddy'' - Texan billionaire J Howard Marshall.
Friends of the late star hope that the biopic, which is due to start shooting before Christmas, will reflect her more ''sensitive'' side when focusing on her troubled son Daniel, who died aged 20 from a drug-related heart attack six months before an overdose killed Anna in a Florida hotel room.
Actress Isabella Rapone said: ''She was anything but the gold-digger many people perceived her as.
''She worshipped the ground her son walked on. I think if he hadn't died so young, Anna Nicole might well be alive today.''
