Christmas Story DVD Review

Christmas Story DVDHave you ever truly wondered how Santa Claus made his initial entry into the profession of widespread gift giving.  The November 3rd Lightning Media DVD Release Christmas Story explores this dilemma in a family film that begins with the young Nikolas and tells of his mysterious mission.

An orphan in a poor town, Nikolas was passed from home to home every year as each family took a turn caring for the young lad.  One day, a man stepped forward and desired to take in the young boy full time in order to have a personal assistant to carry out his work.

As Nikolas grew older, his affinity for craftmanship merged with his heart for giving.  Santa Claus was not born overnight of course, he was built up from a foundation of hard work and finely tuned his craft each year until he retired.  As the story goes, at least in Christmas Story, he laid the foundation and others would follow to carry on the tradition of Santa Claus.

Among the more cheesy stories of the young Saint Nick, Christmas Story is a little underwhelming in terms of content.  It is not a bad movie, in fact, the story plays out quickly and in a fashion that keeps the viewer engaged.  Just go into it with a realistic expectation for family fun, but not  a masterpiece worthy of the real Santa Claus.
