Anton Corbijn is working on a film adaptation of 'A Most Wanted Man'.

The Dutch director - whose last project was George Clooney thriller 'The American' - will work alongside scriptwriter Andrew Bovell to turn the 2008 John Le Carre novel into a movie.

'A Most Wanted Man' will document the life of a Chechen man named Issa, who illegally arrives in Hamburg and will quickly become falsely embroiled in the international war against terror.

Le Carre - who spent a number of years in the city working as a British agent - partly based the novel on the true story of Turkish citizen and legal German resident Murat Kurnaz, who was arrested in Pakistan in 2001 and incarcerated in the US' Guantanamo Bay detention camp until his eventual release in 2006.

While no names are yet attached to the project, it is believed filming of 'A Most Wanted Man' will take place either late next year or in early 2012.

Meanwhile, the film adaptation of Le Carre novel 'Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy' - directed by Tomas Alfredson - is set for release in September, starring Colin Firth, Gary Oldman and Benedict Cumberbatch.
