Penelope Cruz to star in "Grimsby"?
Penelope Cruz could be set to join the cast of 'Grimsby'.
The 'Pirates of the Caribbean' actress is in final negotiations to join Sacha Baron Cohen in the upcoming Sony spy comedy, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film - which is being directed by Louis Letterier - centers on a James Bond type character, played by Mark Strong, who is forced to hide in his hometown and team up with his football hooligan brother (Cohen).
Other members of the cast include Bridesmaid's Rebel Wilson, Ian McShane, Gabourey Sidibe and Annabelle Wallis, and although details of characters are currently being kept under wraps, it's reported that Cruz will play a philanthropic corporate leader who may or may not be more than she seems.
Cohen, along with Phil Johnston and Peter Baynham, wrote the script for the project and will also produce alongside Nira Park, Louis Rosner, Todd Schulman, James Biddle, Eric Fellner and Tim Bevan with Ant Hines and Adam McKay taking on the role of executive producers.
Cruz was most recently seen in Ridley Scott thriller 'The Counselor' alongside her husband Javier Bardem, Michael Fassbender, Cameron Diaz and Brad Pitt.
'Grimsby' is being filmed in the United Kingdom and South Africa this summer and is slated for release on July 31 2015.
