May 19th, Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment released a pet-friendly adventure with Dr. Dolittle: Million Dollar Mutts. Maya Dolittle (Kyla Pratt) is the daughter of the famous Dr. Dolittle. She has the same gift of gab with animals and a desire to dedicate her life to helping them. Unfortunately, she discovers it will take six years of vet school before she ever gets to realize her dream. Famous and wealthy heiress Tiffany Monaco (Tegan Moss) may have the answer to Maya’s dreams, and her own. She wants Maya to move to Hollywood and partner with her on a new TV program centered on celebrities, and their pets.
After rebelling against her mom’s request that she return home, Maya and Tiffany seek out celebrities to be guests for the show. After Maya helps them learn about the thoughts of their animals, they can’t refuse. The show is picked up by the network and Maya agrees to sign with the same aggressive business manager that Tiffy has worked with. She doesn’t really just how much of her freedom she has given up. A battle ensues between his demands for a profitable sho and Maya’s interest in doing good things for animals.
The animals get involved as Maya’s own dog, Lucky, leads a team of furry friends in helping Maya to get things worked out for the better good. Maya and the animals make a great team. Thrown in some mild romance and clever wit from intriguing animals voices, and Dr. Dolittle: Million Dollar Mutts makes for a nice family comedy-drama movie.
With a bonus DVD included, the Million Dollar Mutts Blu-ray product makes for a nice piece of entertainment. Special features include:
