Jeremy Renner has been inspired by Tom Cruise's stunt work on the set of 'Mission: Impossible - Ghost Protocol'.

The 'Hurt Locker' star is currently shooting the fourth instalment of the action franchise in Dubai with Tom - who has played special agent Ethan Hunt in the previous three movies - and he admits watching the star at work has made him train harder for his own stunts.

He said: "I haven't gotten to work too much in terms of acting stuff, but the stunts have been insane. Tom has been doing loads. He's crazy, that guy. It's unbelievable. He's fearless. He's great to watch. He inspires me to want to be better.

"I'm training in the gym and working out and fighting and doing everything I can to try and keep up. I'm doing hand-to-hand combat, Muay Thai and kung fu and learning how to take someone out quickly. I need to look like I know what I'm doing!"

The 39-year-old actor shot to fame earlier this year with his Oscar-nominated role in 'The Hurt Locker' and Jeremy insists the best thing about his new found fame is getting to work on big budget movies like the fourth 'Mission: Impossible' film and upcoming Marvel comic book movie 'The Avengers'.

He told MTV News: "Now things happen faster and they happen more frequently. I'm attached now to big franchise movies. 'Mission: Impossible' happened so quickly. And then 'The Avengers'. This is going to be the next 10 years of my life."
