Michelle Pfeiffer ''can't compare'' Robert De Niro and Al Pacino.

The actress is no stranger to playing the wife of a mob boss, appearing as Pacino's wife in 'Scarface' and De Niro's in new movie 'The Family', but she can't say who the ''better gangster'' is.

Pfeiffer told BANG Showbiz: ''You can't compare the two, it's like apples and oranges. I never considered ['Scarface' character] Tony Montana as a Mafioso.

''But in terms of my relationship with [De Niro] in the film, he's my husband so I don't relate to him as a mobster, he's just somebody who won't listen to what I say and then misbehaves!''

Referring to her character Maggie's outrageous behaviour in dark comedy 'The Family', Pfeiffer admits she enjoyed embracing that side of her personality.

She said: ''I can't imagine myself blowing up supermarkets, but it is fun to play those kinds of parts.

''It's fun to kick ass and show that other dark side of yourself as well. It's fun to explore areas that are taboo that you're not allowed to in real life as an actor.''

The 55-year-old mother-of-two also spoke of her relationship with Dianna Agron, who plays her daughter in the film, saying: ''It never occurs to me that I would be intimidating to anybody but maybe I should consider that.''

'The Family' is in cinemas now.
