Melissa Leo is in talks to star in 'The Equalizer'.

The 52-year-old actress is said to be in negotiations with filmmaker Antoine Fuqua - who directed her in 'Olympus Has Fallen' - for a role in the big-screen adaptation of the 80s CBS TV series, reports.

Leo - who won an Oscar for her role in 'The Fighter' - would star alongside her fellow 'Flight' actor Denzel Washington in the feature, produced by Escape Artists' Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal and Steve Tisch.

Washington is set to play retired court operative McCall, who quits his agency to and posts an ad in a newspaper offering his help to those in need, reading, 'Got a problem? Odds against you? Call the Equalizer'.

If successful, Leo will play McCall's former colleague and good friend who helps him on his mission to seek redemption for his dark actions by informing him who the enemies are.

Leo is next set to star in Lee Daniels' historical drama 'The Butler', in which she plays former First Lady of the United States Mamie Eisenhower alongside stars including Alex Pettyfer, John Cusack, James Marsden, Alan Rickman and Robin Williams - who she is joined by in Phil Alden Robinson's 'The Angriest Man in Brookyln'.
