Stephen Sommers returning to GI Joe
Stephen Sommers will return to direct the 'GI Joe: The Rise Of Cobra' sequel.
The filmmaker is reportedly close to agreeing a deal to helm the follow-up to the action movie follow-up, despite previous claims that he had clashed with studio Paramount over the first film.
In addition, Channing Tatum is expected to reprise his role as Captain Duke Hauser though the plot details are being kept under wraps.
It was reported earlier this year that 'Zombieland' writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick will pen the script and their draft has been accepted by Paramount, though the film is still in development.
Stephen is expected to produce the film with Lorenzo di Bonaventura.
It was previously claimed that the director was fired midway through post-production on the first film following poor test screening responses, but the reports were subsequently dismissed.
'G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra' grossed more than $300 million at the worldwide box office last year on a reported production budget of $175 million.
