Memorial Day Weekend! What Will You See?

"The Hangover III" opens on Thursday, May 23. This third installment in the hilarious and popular franchise sees Bradley Cooper, Zach Galifianakis, and Ed Helms return to their roles as three friends who cannot seem to stay out of trouble. Following a tragic event in Alan's life, his buddies decide to seek some professional help for Alan. Predictably, though, the Wolfpack draws trouble to them. Before long, they are in the middle of a plot that involves gangsters and mayhem. "The Hangover III" has an R rating for graphic nudity, drug content, violence, and pervasive language. Todd Phillips directs.

"Fast & Furious 6" continues the popular and adrenaline-packed franchise. Justin Lin directs. Dom and Rio are still trying to deal with the repercussions of their big heist, which has left them wealthy beyond their dreams, but also unwelcome in their own country. When they get an offer that could erase their problems, Dom and Rio seriously consider taking part in one last rumble. The movie's PG-13 rating is due to mature content, language, and intense scenes of violence, action, and mayhem.

"Epic" is a new animated family film from Chris Wedge. When M.K.'s father talks about a world beyond their own, she thinks he's just being eccentric. Soon, though, M.K. accidentally lands in a mysterious world of tiny forest warriors. Although she is not sure what to make of her situation, M.K. must accept her fate and help the Leafmen save the day. Otherwise, her world could be in danger. Brief rude language, scary images, and mild action contribute to the film's PG rating.

"Before Midnight" follows Jesse and Celine, many decades after the events in "Before Sunrise" (1995) and "Before Sunset" (2004). Richard Linklater directs. Now older and just a little wiser, the two are still growing as a couple. As they face unexpected obstacles and consider their past, Celine and Jesse come to tough realizations and intimate revelations. The romantic drama has an R rating for mature content, nudity, and language.

Continuing Films

"Star Trek Into Darkness" stars Chris Pine as Captain Kirk. When Kirk guides the Enterprise back to planet Earth and finds only disaster and heartbreak waiting for him, he takes it upon himself to restore peace and track down the mastermind behind the destruction. In the process, however, Kirk may risk losing those who are the closest to him. J.J. Abrams directs the film, which has a PG-13 rating for intense action and violence.

"Iron Man 3" is a superhero movie from director Shane Black. As Iron Man, Tony Stark has overcome immeasurable odds and faced tough opponents. Yet, his faith in himself has been weakening lately. In the middle of Iron Man's existential crisis, a terrorist called the Mandarin comes into Stark's life and threatens the very roots of his peace and well-being. Stark will have to find the bravery to fight back. The action-packed film has a PG-13 rating for brief sensuality and intense sci-fi action and violence.

"The Great Gatsby" is an adaptation of an American novel, directed by Australian Baz Luhrmann. Nick falls under the spell of powerful Jay Gatsby, a mysterious man who leads a lavish and seemingly carefree life in Long Island. As Carraway gets to know Gatsby a little better and realizes that his life is haunted by ghosts of the past, Carraway wonders whether the great Gatsby is really so great after all. The film's PG-13 rating is due to partying, smoking, language, mature content, and violent images.

"Pain & Gain" follows a trio of muscular gym rats who dream of escaping their grim circumstances and leading the good life. One of them cooks up a risky scheme to target a wealthy client. Unfortunately for the criminals, their planning has quite a few holes in it, and it does not take long for everything to fall apart in drastic ways. Michael Bay's dark crime comedy has an R rating for drug use, language, crude content, nudity, and bloody violence.

"The Croods" is an animated film from Kirk De Micco and Chris Sanders. Grug just wants to keep his family safe. After his home ends up destroyed by a twist of fate, Grug reluctantly accepts the help of Guy, a boy with inventive ideas and an adventurous spirit. Together, they head towards a new home. "The Croods" has a PG rating for some scary action.

"42" stars Chadwick Boseman as Jackie Robinson, an athlete with big dreams and a lot of courage. When he becomes the first African-American baseball star to play in the major leagues, Robinson is the subject of both praise and controversy. Despite the media storm, Robinson perseveres and focuses on what matters most: the game. Brian Helgeland directs. "42" has a PG-13 rating for thematic elements that include language.
