"Heaven is for Real" saw weekend profits of $21,500,000. Together with earnings from the Wednesday opening, the inspiring drama has earned over $28 million. When his young son, Colton, experiences a dangerous medical emergency, all Todd Burpo wants is for his child to recover. He gets a lot more than be bargained for when Colton starts sharing miraculous insights from his near-death experience, shaking up the Burpos' small community. "Heaven is for Real" has a PG rating for thematic material that includes medical situations.

"Transcendence" debuted with $11,150,000 during the weekend of Friday, April 18. Dr. Will Caster carries out controversial research that could change the world by enhancing artificial intelligence. After radical anti-technology protesters nearly kill Dr. Caster, his wife and colleague figure out how to transfer the scientist's consciousness to a machine, with some unexpected consequences. The film's PG-13 rating is due to bloody images, sensuality, sci-fi action and violence and brief strong language.

"A Haunted House 2" earned $9,100,000 during its first weekend in theaters. Malcolm is starting over after his traumatic experiences with paranormal entities. With a new wife, new step-kids and a new house, Malcolm might have a shot at normalcy. Unfortunately for Malcolm, the new home holds just as many spooky problems as the previous one. The R rating is due to crude and mature content, nudity, drug use, violent images and pervasive language.

Continuing Films

"Captain America: The Winter Soldier" earned top spot in box office rankings. Profits of $26,612,000 helped the film surpass the $201 million mark. Working with Black Widow, Captain America continues to collaborate with S.H.I.E.L.D. to keep the world safe from threats. Classified information and an ominous new enemy send Captain America on a dangerous quest to figure out dark secrets and prevent disastrous plans from taking place. The PG-13 rating is due to intense sequences of violence, action and gun play throughout.

"Rio 2" earned $22,500,000, enjoying a close second place. Now a happy couple with three kids in tow, Blu and Jewel set out to the Amazon to see if they can find other macaws like them. Jewel runs into someone special from her past, while Blu tries to fit in and make new friends. The family-friendly film has earned over $75 million so far. "Rio 2" has a G rating.

Thanks to weekend profits of $5,900,000, "Draft Day" has earned more than $19 million. Sonny Weaver holds the fate of the Cleveland Browns in his hands, and the pressure is affecting every area of his life. On draft day, the team manager has the chance to give promising athletes a shot at fame, but he also has to think of his team. The sports film has a PG-13 rating for strong language that includes mature references.

"Divergent" has seen profits of more than $133 million so far. This past weekend, the movie earned $5,750,000. Following a required test that will determine the course of her future, Tris learns that she's an anomaly in her seemingly perfect society. Trying to hide her true identity, Tris struggles to fit in, but growing problems gradually push her in new directions. "Divergent" has a PG-13 rating for thematic elements, sensuality and intense violence and action.

"Oculus" earned $5,202,000, with total profits now equaling more than $21 million. After her brother's release from an institution, Kaylie Russell takes it upon herself to clear her little brother's good name and prove that a demonic mirror was the cause of her father's murder. If Kaylie is not careful, history could end up repeating itself. Terror, violence, brief language and disturbing images contribute to an R rating.

"Noah" earned $5 million during the weekend, bringing total profits to more than $93 million. After receiving a divine premonition that a coming flood will destroy the planet's population, Noah begins an ambitious quest to construct an Ark that can withstand the storms. "Noah" has a PG-13 rating for suggestive content, disturbing images and violence. 

Movies to DVD

"Barefoot" arrives out on DVD on Tuesday, April 22. Daisy and Jay are from different worlds. While Jay is the disgraced son of an affluent family, Daisy has spent most of her life inside a mental institution. When Jay realizes he can use Daisy to convince his family he's finally responsible, emotions get in the way. "Barefoot" has a PG-13 rating for partial nudity, brief language, a scene of violence and some mature content and references.

"Big Bad Wolves" is a tense crime thriller about three men with conflicting goals. Gidi just wants to avenge his daughter's death. Dror is facing terrible accusations. Miki has been fired from his job after an apparent mistake. As their lives collide, true justice becomes an increasingly unlikely prospect. The film has not been rated by the MPAA.
