Oscar Isaac has replaced Javier Bardem in 'A Most Violent Year'.

The 'Inside Llewyn Davis' actor has signed up to star alongside Oscar-nominated starlet Jessica Chastain in the new period drama directed by J.C. Chandor, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Bardem quit the role earlier this year over disagreements about the script.

Chandor said: ''It was very sad, after eight months of working on the script with Bardem, for that to fall apart. As I was having these problems with Bardem, the answer was right in front of my eyes.

''It's really neat because Jessica was pushing Oscar because they were classmates at Juilliard.''

In the film - which is set in 1981 - Isaac will play a Hispanic man who emigrates to America and becomes a very successful entrepreneur. The character shares some history with the actor, who moved from Guatemala to America as a child and was raised in Miami.

Meanwhile, TheWrap is reporting that 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' star Stanley Tucci is being lined up for a ''key supporting'' role in the flick.

Tucci previously worked with Chandor on 'Margin Call'.

Chandor is currently earning rave reviews and Oscar buzz for his latest movie, 'All is Lost', starring Robert Redford.
