Kristen Wiig's favourable Friends casting
Jon Hamm said casting co-star Kristen Wiig in 'Friends with Kids' was not a favour.
The American actor helped partner and director Jennifer Westfeldt cast for new movie 'Friends with Kids' , but insists asking Kristen - who he previously worked with on 'Bridesmaids' - was not an act of goodwill but because she would be the best person for the job.
He said: ''As an actor it's nice to get the opportunity to do something different and I knew that Kristen- being known as such a wonderful comic actress- would be appealing and I didn't want it to be a favour, I wanted it to be something she really wanted to do.''
The stars started filming for 'Friends with Kids'- about a pair of best friends who observe the strain that children have on relationships so decide to have a child and date other people -just six months after they wrapped for 'Bridesmaids'.
The movie - out March 9 - reunites other members of the 'Bridesmaids' cast including, Maya Rudolph and Chris O'Dowd and allowed the actors to try something a little different.
Jon said: ''It was awesome to work with people we knew doing a completely different side of what they can do. Trust me coming from somebody who has the majority of his notorieties coming from one specific character it's nice to get the opportunity to do something different.''
