"Lone Survivor" topped the box office during the weekend of Friday, January 10. Weekend profits of $38,510,000 brought total earnings to $38,891,561. The year is 2005, and an elite team of Navy SEALs is in Afghanistan on a dangerous mission. Their goal is to apprehend a Taliban figure with ties to Osama bin Laden, but a difficult decision could lead to fatal consequences for everyone involved. "Lone Survivor" has an R rating for strong bloody war violence and pervasive language.

"The Legend of Hercules" saw profits of $8,600,000 during its debut weekend. When he falls in love with the Princess of Crete, Hercules unleashes great controversy. Princess Hebe is engaged to Hercules' brother, making their love forbidden. After Hercules learns of his true heritage, he realizes that his destiny is much greater and more dangerous than he knew. The movie's PG-13 rating is due to some sensuality, as well as to intense sequences of combat violence and action.

"Frozen" earned $15,070,000, bringing total profits to more than $317 million. After Elsa's mysterious powers create a rift between the princess and her family, Elsa attempts to flee her unhappy life. Elsa's sister hasn't forgotten about her, though, and a ragtag group of determined heroes soon come after Elsa and try to thaw her heart. "Frozen" has a PG rating for action and mild rude humor.

"The Wolf of Wall Street" has earned over $78 million since opening in theaters. This past weekend, the film brought in $9 million. As a newly hired stockbroker, Jordan Belfort takes advice from a boss with some unusual views on success. Adopting similar techniques leads Belfort to a life of corruption, power, and parties. Attention from the authorities makes Belfort realize exactly how many risks he's taking. "The Wolf of Wall Street" features an R rating for strong mature content, drug use, graphic nudity, language, and some violence.

"American Hustle" earned $8,600,000. Overall, the movie has earned more than $101 million. For Irving and Sydney, it's love at first sight. Both of them have an innate talent for manipulation and are soon making a killing as con artists. However, it doesn't take long for the lovebirds to meet their match in Richie, a hot-headed FBI agent. The R rating is due to brief violence, pervasive language, and some mature content.

"The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug" earned $8,015,000, bringing total profits past the $242 million mark. As the dwarves and their hobbit companion continue the arduous journey towards the Lonely Mountain, giant spiders and suspicious Elves waylay the party. An unexpected romance between Kili and the Elf Tauriel could result in a helpful alliance, but many dangers still lie ahead. The second installment in Peter Jackson's trilogy has a PG-13 rating for frightening images and extended sequences of fantasy action and violence.

"Carrie" arrives out on DVD and Blu-Ray on Tuesday, January 14. Between her hostile classmates and her overbearing mother,Carrie's life is a nightmare. Craving acceptance, Carrie will do anything it takes to fit in, but her powers are growing beyond her control. If the world pushes Carrie too far, terrible disaster awaits. The horror movie has an R rating for bloody violence, disturbing images, language, and mature content.

"Riddick" stars Vin Diesel as the ruthless Furyan warrior. Left for dead, Riddick promises to seek vengeance on his betrayers. Survival on a hostile planet gives Riddick the edge he needs to put up a fight and gradually draw his enemies into a ruthless battle of wits. "Riddick" has an R rating for strong violence, language, nudity, and some mature content.

"Lee Daniels' The Butler" traces the career of Cecil Gaines, a White House butler. As he watches racial turmoil and civil rights issues change the face of the country, Cecil must hold onto his belief that the presidents he serves will make the world a better place for future generations. The PG-13 rating is due to language, mature content, smoking, thematic elements, disturbing images, and violence.

"You're Next" follows a family getaway that's anything but peaceful. When the Davisons gather for a special event, unknown murderers descend upon on the group. With the guests dying one by one, the retreat becomes a bloodbath. Someone will have to stand up to the killers before it's too late. The R rating is due to language, nudity, mature content, and strong bloody violence.

"The Spectacular Now" is the story of an unconventional friendship between a popular, carefree senior and an overlooked girl who doesn't quite fit in. As Sutter and Aimee influence each other's lives, their unexpected connection gradually changes the course of their futures, in both good ways and bad. The film's R rating is due to alcohol use, language, and some mature content, all involving teens.
