Madonna nervous about British reaction to W.E.
Madonna admits it was "nerve-wracking" attending the UK premiere of her new film 'W.E' last night (23.10.11).
The singer is making her full-length feature directorial debut with the two-tier historical drama and while it has already been shown at the Venice Film Festival and the Toronto International Film Festival, she admits she was under more pressure because she was in Britain.
She said: "It's slightly nerve-wracking because it's about a British king, it's predominantly filmed in Britain, it's a British production, most of my actors are English and I know the British can be tough critics. But I hope they like it."
The film looks at the romance between Wallis Simpson, played by Andrea Riseborough, and Edward VIII, played by James D'Arcy, which led to the monarch's abdication.
Despite her nerves, the 'Material Girl' hitmaker says she would love to do more directing and hinted she would like to do a musical about her life.
She said: "I'd want Andrea Riseborough to play me, because she's incredible to work with and I'd work with her again."
And it seems Andrea - who also attended the premiere at London's Leicester Square with co-star James - enjoyed working with Madonna.
She said: "She was extraordinary, because she was very prepared and passionate about the piece and that's what excited me when I first met her."
