Bryan Cranston to play Lex Luthor?

August 27th, 2013

Bryan Cranston has reportedly been cast as Lex Luthor in 'Man of Steel 2'.

The 'Breaking Bad' TV star will play Superman's arch nemesis in the sequel and has signed up for the long haul, with him set to play the character in at least six films based around DC Comics characters.

Warner Bros. are said to be waiting until the end of September to make an official announcement.

A source told website Cosmic Book News: ''Cranston truly is a dream casting for Luthor.''

Meanwhile, it was announced last week the sequel will see Henry Cavill's Superman character star alongside Ben Affleck as Batman, a controversial decision which was met with mixed reaction.

However, fans will have to get used to seeing Affleck as the Caped Crusader, as sources say he ''has been signed for multiple movies'' which could include a standalone Batman film, following on from Christopher Nolan's recent trilogy closer 'The Dark Knight Rises', which saw Christian Bale in the lead role.

One online petition to drop Affleck from the role has gathered over 67,000 signatures on

John Roden, who started it, wrote: ''His acting skill is not even close to being believable as Bruce Wayne and he won't do the role justice.

''He's not intimidating enough for the role of Batman.

''Batman is someone that strikes fear in the hearts of men.

''His portrayal of [superhero] Daredevil was atrocious and he's not remotely close to an action star or a superhero.''
