Weekend Preview! What's New at the Box Office?

-- "Man of Steel" is an epic new superhero movie from director Zack Snyder. Focusing on one of the most beloved and iconic heroes of all time, "Man of Steel" tells the story of Clark Kent, a young man with a secret. From a young age, Clark has known that he is not like other people. When his own kind visits Earth, Clark must make difficult choices about where his true alliances fall. The PG-13 rating is due to some strong language, as well as intense sci-fi destruction, action, and violence.

"This Is the End" debuted in theaters on Wednesday, June 12. Seth Rogen co-directs with Evan Goldberg. The movie follows a group of celebrity friends. An evening that begins with a star-studded party at James Franco's house quickly devolves into mayhem. With apocalyptic events turning Los Angeles into a wasteland, the surviving pals hunker down and try to survive. The raunchy movie has an R rating for crude mature content, brief graphic nudity, language, drug use, and violence.

"20 Feet from Stardom" is a new documentary from director Morgan Neville. The documentary film focuses on the singers that most fans do not even recognize: the back-up singers. Although these artists help make big names so famous, they always stand in the shadows. This documentary finally celebrates and acknowledges the voices that contribute to many of the most well-known and popular songs in musical history. The PG-13 rating is due to mature content and strong language.

"Fukrey" is the latest Bollywood hit from Mrigdeep Singh Lamba. Four young friends find unexpected ways to get into trouble. One of the young men discovers that he has a fail-proof way to win the lottery, meaning that he and his three friends no longer need to accept unfulfilling jobs. However, this special talent is not enough to keep the pals totally out of trouble. A run-in with an eccentric gangster has them in an uproar. The movie is not rated.

"The Bling Ring" opens on limited release on June 14, before expanding on June 21. Sofia Coppola directs the crime drama about a group of teenagers who mastermind a very unusual crime ring. After using the Internet to track down the home addresses of wealthy celebrities, the teenagers manage to sneak inside and rob the glitterati. It does not take long for things to get risky and dangerous, but the thieves may be in too deep to stop. The R rating is for teen drug use and alcohol use, language, and brief mature content.

Continuing Films

Directed by James DeMonaco, "The Purge" focuses on a futuristic United States. Under the rule of the new government, each year features a twelve-hour period during which all crime is legal. Citizens have the chance to vent their frustrations and release their tensions. One family abstains from the worst parts of the Purge, but their world changes after a stranger seeks refuge in their house. The spooky horror movie has an R rating for language and strong, disturbing violence.

"Fast & Furious 6" is the sixth installment in the popular franchise, directed by Justin Lin. Dom might have thought that his criminal days were behind him, but Hobbs has some other ideas. Using the thing that Dom desires the most in the world as motivation, Hobbs convinces Dom and the rest of the team to reunite one more time. The PG-13 rating is due to mature content, language, and intense sequences of violence, mayhem, and action.

"Now You See Me" focuses on a group of four Las Vegas magicians who have an unforgettable final act. During their illusions, huge amounts of very real money go missing, and the banks are not happy about it. When the authorities start to investigate, the magicians are quick to teach them a hard lesson about the thin barrier between reality and illusion. The PG-13 rating is for action, language, and mature content. Louis Leterrier directs.

"The Internship" stars Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn as a pair of buddies who make an unusual business decision. After pulling some strings, the two businessmen find themselves in the middle of one of the most competitive internship programs in the country. Although starting out on the bottom rung of the Google empire, the friends use their life experience to outsmart the more na•ve interns who surround them. The movie's PG-13 rating is due to partying, mature content, language, and mature content. Shawn Levy directs.

"Epic" is an animated, family-friendly movie from director Chris Wedge. The Leafmen are brave warriors, but they cannot carry off every task and mission. For that, Queen Tara enlists the help of an unsuspecting teen. The girl will have to find her inner courage. "Epic" has a PG rating for scary images, rude language, and mild action.
