Max Payne Blu-ray Review

Max Payne (Mark Wahlberg) is a maverick cop and the star character in a popular video game. In the new Max Payne Blu-ray movie release, Max Payne has one thing on his mind – revenge for the murder of his wife and child. This stylized adaptation of the popular video game comes from Twentieth Century Fox Home Entertainment on January 20th.

Academy Award nominee Mark Wahlberg plays the title character, a perfect fit for the rugged and rough former hip-hop star. An obsessive DEA agent, Max lets nothing stop his pursuit of the truth surrounding his wife’s death. The brutal slaying of a woman (Bond girl Olga Kurylenko) he is connected to and the series of killings performed by ruthless killers from the “supernatural” realm are not enough to stifle Max’s persistence.

One thing Max does not plan for is the betrayal and selfish ambitions that he faces from people within his own ranks. The violent encounters with evil and the furious race to stay one step ahead of law enforcement puts Max in some precarious situations. This is where the true action hero must come to play.

Mila Kunis of “That 70’s Show” stars as the leading lady in Max Payne despite her on-again off-again involvement in the story. Beau Bridges and Chris “Ludacris” Bridges also play law enforcement officers who find themselves at odds in the ongoing investigations and the situation with Max Payne. Chris O’Donnell makes a minor supporting appearance. For a video game adaptation, Max Payne is a solid feature film. It is action-packed and offers a great cast. Mark Wahlberg is one of the most believable and real action stars in film today. He makes this unusual story play out in an entertaining fashion.
