Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles put back to 2014
Michael Bay's 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' film has been put back to 2014.
Initial reports suggested the project had been shelved indefinitely, but this has been refuted, with website ComingSoon.net saying it has been given a new release date by Paramount, of 16 May 2014.
That the film has been put back so far suggests it needs significant work before filming.
This comes in light of Michael's initial claim the turtles would be re-cast as aliens, an idea which was met badly by fans of the original comic series.
Defending his stance, Michael took to his official website, writing: ''Fans need to take a breath, and chill. They have not read the script. Our team is working closely with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles to help expand and give a more complex back story.
''Relax, we are including everything that made you become fans in the first place. We are just building a richer world.''
If the film is pushed back to May 2014, then it could go head to head with another huge summer release, 'Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes'.
Earlier this year, it was rumoured Jonathan Liebesman was in talks to direct the reboot.
