June 23rd, Mr. Troop Mom, a George Lopez presentation, originally seen on Nickelodeon, will be available on DVD Warner Home Video. Writer Thomas Ian Griffith and Director William Dear tell the story about a special dad who is called upon to be a mom.
Eddie Serrano (Lopez) is a widower trying to fill the role of dad and mom for his thirteen year old daughter. Realizing that his connection to Naomi is growing more strained, Eddie volunteers to chaperone her troop at the Spring Action Classic at Hulka’s Rock.
Along with being the only man in a camp full of women and girls, Eddie also finds that camp life is not what he has grown accustomed to as a successful lawyer. Treacherous rope courses, cutthroat canoe soccer and slippery slimeball wars are a few of the challenging outdoor activities that remind him of his air-conditioned home life.
Jane Lynch (Another Cinderella Story) and tweens stars Alex and Nat Wolff of the Naked Brothers Band also star. Mr. Troop Mom is an entertaining action-adventure movie for families (G-rated), though the target audience is most obviously young girls. Lopez adds a bit of comic relief to his challenging role as the struggling dad who is out of his element. There is also a nice coming together story in tough circumstances between Eddie and Naomi. If you are a family with young girls, Mr. Troop Mom is for you.
