Charlize Theron is optioning 'Two Eyes Staring'.

The Oscar-winning actress has gained the rights to remake the Dutch film - originally named 'Zwart Water' - for an English-speaking audience through her production outfit Denver & Delilah.

The horror movie - written by Elbert van Strien and Paulo van Vilet - tells the tale of a nine-year-old girl who discovers her new friend is the ghost of her mother's deceased twin.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Charlize is keen to get an "A-list director" to work on the project, which was released in The Netherlands in the spring.

It has not currently had an international release but has played at a number of European film festivals in the summer.

South African star Charlize has had a quiet year in 2010, having not starred in a role since 2009's 'The Road'.

She has nothing lined up now until 2012's 'Mad Max: Fury Road' with Nicholas Hoult and Tom Hardy.

In addition, Charlize is also set to star in comedy drama 'Young Adult', due for release in 2013.
