Robert Pattinson's fan alienation concern

May 6th, 2011

Robert Pattinson signed up for 'Water for Elephants' because he believed it wouldn't alienate his fans.

The 'Twilight Saga' actor has a hard core teenage following and he admitted his choice of role was dictated by the image he has cultivated.

He said: "I like the idea of this film but I also thought it was a fairly good career step. It doesn't alienate the audience or image that I sort of have. Also it's not like it's an ultra-violent or ultra-demanding film which is demanding to be taken profoundly. It's a simple old-fashioned story which isn't asking too much from the audience.

However, Robert, 24, is set to shock his fans with his upcoming movies as he has taken on the lead role in horror film 'Cosmopolis' with director David Cronenberg who is known for his controversial works and will play a womaniser opposite Uma Thurman in 'Bel Ami'.

Robert said: "I'm doing a David Cronenberg movie next, 'Cosmopolis' with Juliette Binoche and Paul Giamatti, which I think is a pretty big step for me.

"After that I'm hoping to be producing something. I'm not entirely sure what yet."
