Roger Moore wants the next James Bond film to be humorous.

The British actor - who played the spy in seven films from 1973 to 1985 - believes the last outing of Bond in 'Quantum of Solace' starring Daniel Craig was not a "great film" and fun needs to be injected back into the franchise.

He said: "It wasn't a great film by any means and the series does now really need a little humour again, as that is part of the charm of Bond."

The 23rd Bond film - which is expected to star Craig for the third time as special agent 007 - has experienced a number of problems in production due to studio MGM failing to find funding.

However in September, it was claimed Sam Mendes - who had pulled out of directing the project because of the problems - was back on to work on the film, with production set to star in summer 2011.

Problems at MGM also led to a halt on production of 'The Hobbit', but the film will now start filming in February 2011.
