Quick Hits Movie Review:‭ ‬“Pain and Gain‭”

The latest blockbuster by director Michael Bay proved to be exactly what I thought it was going to be,‭ ‬overpriced and underpowered.‭ ‬This movie was just plain bad and I couldn‭’‬t wait for it to be over with.

The story is apparently based on a true story that happened to Daniel Lugo‭ (‬Mark Wahlberg‭)‬,‭ ‬Paul Doyle‭ (‬Dwayne Johnson‭)‬,‭ ‬and Adrian Doorbal‭ (‬Anthony Mackie‭) ‬who are three bodybuilders that kidnap and torture Victor Kershaw‭ (‬Tony Shalhoub‭) ‬for possession of his money and assets.‭ ‬The three end up in a very unrealistic situation that for me made‭ ‬the movie unbearable to watch.‭ ‬I find it hard to believe that Hollywood didn‭’‬t change this story around to make it more interesting for the audience.‭ ‬The‭ ‬flim wasn‭’‬t interesting at all and neither were any of the characters.‭ ‬Don‭’‬t get me wrong because I actually thought the actors did a great job,‭ ‬it‭’‬s just the characters they played were annoying.‭ ‬I honestly don‭’‬t want to watch a bunch of meatheads hurting people and pumping iron.‭ ‬You end up not caring about any character in this film,‭ ‬which is a little bizarre.

Even if this film is completely historically accurate,‭ ‬which I doubt,‭ ‬I really didn‭’‬t need to spend two hours hearing about it.‭ ‬Maybe it would have been a nice hour crime TV show,‭ ‬but as a movie it was just boring and annoying.

Theater vs.‭ ‬Home Release:‭ ‬Neither
