Frank (Leonardo DiCaprio) and April (Kate Winslet) seem to be the perfect young couple. They live comfortably with their two young children. Frank has a decent job, though he doesn’t get excited about going to work. One day, April suggests that the family do something unpractical, and move to Paris. Revolutionary Road is not just the street the family lives on, it is the name of this June 2nd Blu-ray release from Paramount Pictures Home Entertainment.

After initially agreeing to move to Paris based on April’s whim, Frank becomes reluctant as time goes by, and he is also tempted by an offer for a promotion and raise at work. Tension grows in their marriage as April struggles with the reality of “regular” life, and Frank has a hard time controlling his dissatisfaction with his marriage and things at home.

When April announced she is 10 weeks pregnant with their third child, maybe the pair have found their glue to pull their relationship together. April is concerned that another child could hold up her plans to get more out of life. So, the tension only continues to build. Can their marriage survive?

DiCaprio and Winslet recreate the chemistry they established in the blockbuster hit Titanic. They seem to do well in these roles where their are intense emotions involved in their relationships. The pairing of these Academy Award winners really drives the drama in Revolutionary Road. While not necessarily an uplifting tale, the movie is captivating and emotionally charged, keeping you engaged throughout. The film is well-directed by Sam Mendes and is based on the bestselling book by Richard Yates.
