Matt Smith wants musical role

Matt Smith wants to star in a musical.

The 'Doctor Who' actor - who is currently filming 'How To Catch A Monster' with Ryan Gosling - has enjoyed experiencing something different from the sci-fi drama, so is now looking for another new direction to take his career in once the movie is finished.

However, while he'd love to land a singing and dancing role, he won't rule anything out.

He said: ''I'd quite like to do a musical. That'd be fun I think . . . We'll see what comes up. You never know what's around the corner.''

Matt has particularly enjoyed his role of Bully in 'How To Catch A Monster' because it is so different to his work on 'Doctor Who'.

He told Total Film magazine: ''He's the opposite of what I'm doing right now, which is really interesting. He's wired in a different way and he's from a different place... [the movie] has a wonderful Lynch-ian quality.

''[Ryan's] operating in a very interesting filmic language, it's a different world, almost, that it's set in.''
