Stephen Fry joins Sherlock Holmes 2

September 27th, 2010

Stephen Fry has been added to the cast of 'Sherlock Holmes 2'.

The actor-and-TV presenter will play Sherlock's older brother Mycroft in the Guy Ritchie-directed project.

Mycroft appears in four of the original books about the London-based detective by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, and is shown as a more intelligent, but lazy, version of Sherlock.

Fry announced his participation in the sequel - which is due for release in December 2011 - on Danny Baker's BBC radio show on Saturday (25.09.10).

Robert Downey Jr. is due to reprise the role of Sherlock for the movie, alongside Jude Law has his sidekick Watson.

Swedish actress Noomi Rapace - best known for her role in 'The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' - has also landed a part in the as-yet-untitled sequel, in what will be her first English-speaking role.

Fry has appeared in a number of big roles in his career - as well as a reoccurring role in TV series 'Bones, he is also well known for the 1997 docu-drama movie 'Wilde', about the life of author Oscar Wilde.
