Shia LaBeouf to star with Redford in political thriller

July 20th, 2011

Shia LaBeouf has signed up to star in 'The Company You Keep' with Robert Redford.

The 'Transformers: Dark of the Moon' actor will play a journalist who exposes the identity of a former militant member of American radical left group the Weather Underground Organisation, portrayed by Redford, who has been wanted by the FBI for 30 years.

Redford's character then has to go on the run in the political thriller.

Producer Nicolas Chartier said: "This is an edge-of-your-seat thriller about real Americans who stood for their beliefs, thinking they were patriots and defending their country's ideals against their government.

"It is absolutely amazing to have Shia LaBeouf, arguably the brightest young star in Hollywood today paired with the global icon Robert Redford."

Robert will direct the movie for Voltage Pictures from a script written by Lem Dobbs with filming scheduled to begin in Vancouver, Canada, in September for an expected 2013 release.

Shia has several movies coming up including 'The Wettest County in the World', which began shooting earlier this year. He's also set to star in 'Pinkville', 'Horns' and 'The Associate'.
